Cookie Policy

What cookies and similar technologies Morcel uses, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how to turn the non-essential ones off.

01What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember things between page loads β€” that you are signed in, or that you have already seen a notice. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, pixels and SDK-free measurement scripts; where this policy says "cookies", it means all of them.

First-party cookies are set by Morcel. Third-party cookies are set by another company whose script runs on our page, such as Google or Meta.

02How we use cookies

On www.morcel.app and in the Morcel app we use cookies to:

  • Keep you signed in and protect your session against forgery and abuse.
  • Measure how many people visit, which pages they read, and where they came from β€” in aggregate, not to build a profile of you.
  • Measure whether our ads work, so we do not keep paying for ones that do not.

We do not use cookies to read files on your device, and we do not use them to sell personal information.

Cookie names and lifetimes are set by their providers and can change without notice on their side. Vercel Analytics, which measures page performance for us, is cookie-less β€” it stores nothing on your device.

Guests who scan a restaurant's QR menu are not required to accept any non-essential cookies to view the menu.

05How to control cookies

You have several independent controls, and you can use any combination of them:

  • Your browser β€” every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies specifically, or clear them on exit. See the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in.
  • Google Analytics β€” install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to stop GA measurement across every site.
  • Meta β€” adjust what Meta does with off-platform activity in your Meta ad preferences.
  • Industry opt-outs β€” Your Online Choices (EU) and the DAA WebChoices tool (US) cover many advertising vendors at once.
  • Global Privacy Control β€” we honour the GPC signal where your browser or extension sends it. Browser "Do Not Track" headers have no agreed standard, so we do not rely on them.

Blocking analytics and marketing cookies does not reduce the functionality of your menus β€” it only reduces what we can measure.

06Third-party policies

The third parties above process the data their cookies collect under their own terms:

07Changes to this policy

We update this policy whenever we add or remove a cookie or a measurement tool. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the current version, and the table in section 04 is the authoritative list.
